Welcome to Hobbit Hearth

Hello! Welcome to Hobbit Hearth Photography! My name is Kristyn and I live with my boyfriend, his son, and our three cats in the Cascade Foothills in the heart of the Willamette National Forest in Oregon. For years, I have had an avid interest in photography. My friends and family can attest that at most events I can be seen with my camera phone in my hand or some other instrument to document the memories made.

Like many have in the months of Covid-19, I decided to take up photography on a more serious basis. I hope as I learn my way around my camera that I will discover my favorite mediums and subjects. I am enamored with nature and love to look for breathtaking views and beautiful colors. I especially love water and the sounds of rivers. I have so many times sat by the Willamette River and wished that I could properly capture the scenes that take my breath away.

Some of you may wonder about the name of this blog- Hobbit Hearth. I chose this name because Tolkien's description of the little creatures has been a profound part of my identity ever since my early childhood. I love just about everything about Hobbits. I love good food, good drinks, a love of hearth and home, and good company. I love to read, write a little, color, and bake. I'm also a self-acclaimed loose leaf tea aficionado. I live a shamelessly Hobbit lifestyle so it made sense to me to have that part of my identity as the moniker for my photography pursuits.

The purpose of this blog is to document my journey as an amateur photographer and share my sense of wonder through my lens. I hope as I grow that I can inspire others to pursue their own passions. In the trying times that we live in, there's such a need for light within the darkness and I believe one way to do that is to find something one loves doing and share it with others. I hope that I can also connect with other photographers to learn from them and to share the joys of our chosen art.

I hope this blog will bring my readers pleasure. Please feel free to comment and give feedback at your leisure.
